How to Change AutoCAD 2014 / 2015 Classic Workspace in AutoCAD Architecture

One feature of “Vanilla” AutoCAD that most AutoCAD Architecture users want, is the AutoCAD Classic workspace. However, this is not included in the standard installation. The below will walk users through adding that workspace to AutoCAD Architecture.
  1. Open AutoCAD Architecture
  2. Type CUI in the Command Line and hit enter to open the Custom User Interface

  1. In the CUI select the Transfer tab

  1. In the Transfer tab under Customization in New File select ‘Open Customization File’

  1. In the Open dialog box browse to
    C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\ACA 2014\enu\Support
  2. In the Support folder select acad.CUIX and then select Open

  1. In the CUI you should now see the “Vanilla” AutoCAD CUI information (acad.CUIX)
  2. Select AutoCAD Classic under Workspaces

  1. Drag AutoCAD Classic to the current CUI and drop it under Workspaces

  1. Select the Customize tab to customize the newly added workspace

  1. Under Workspaces you should now see the AutoCAD Classic workspace

  1. Right click on AutoCAD Classic and select Set Current

You can also right click on AutoCAD Classic and select Set Default so that AutoCAD Architecture automatically loads the AutoCAD Classic workspace every time it is opened.

  1. Once you have set AutoCAD Classic as current select Apply and OK to close the CUI

  1. Your workspace will blink a few times, and then AutoCAD Architecture will display the Classic view
